Jealous Fruits, family owned and operated, has been growing high quality, delicious cherries throughout the Okanagan and Thompson Valleys of British Columbia, Canada for over 120 years. This value-driven company, focused on quality, innovation, and safety, is seeking an experienced HR professional with passion for agriculture to champion the company’s greatest asset – People. As a People Operations Manager, you will be responsible for recruitment, foreign worker program management, compensation and performance programs, employee retention and engagement, culture, wellness, and general HR management.

Working out of their state-of-the-art processing facility located right on the farm in beautiful Kelowna, BC, you will support the organization’s people by carrying out the following duties:

  • Cultivating a positive high performing work environment.
  • Leading the development and implementation of People strategies to support a high-quality employee life cycle.
  • Advising and coaching managers and supervisors in effective people leadership.
  • Providing seamless administrative HR functions that are needed to carry out all company operations.
  • Implementing and continually improving compensation, performance, and career planning programs.
  • Building creative staffing solutions to support critical seasonal employment needs.
  • Utilizing both people and technology to build and support the Temporary Foreign Workforce program.
  • Managing a small but mighty HR team.

Job requirements

Jealous Fruits’ ideal candidate is a purpose-driven HR manager with a HR diploma/degree and at least 5 years of experience in generalist human resources, preferably in a family-run/entrepreneurial organization. They will be an excellent communicator with exceptional relationship-building skills, accountability, and diplomacy. Speaking Spanish is an asset for this role.

This is a full-time, year-round position with seasonal fluctuation and the primary busy season from June – September. As a member of the leadership team, the Manager is expected to be fully available and onsite during these primary months.
