Job description
John Howard Society of Okanagan & Kootenay is a not-for-profit organization providing housing and program continuum directly addressing homelessness and reducing barriers to independent living so all members of our community can reach their full potential.
As part of the Building Operations Department and working across multiple facilities in Kelowna, the Inventory/Suite Turnover Worker is responsible for cleaning suites upon departure of tenants, ensuring the proper care of tenant belongings and performing light repairs to make suites ready for occupancy.
Duties of the role include:
Conducting move-out inspections with tenants, assessing suite condition and identifying issues, items for replacement and suites needing extensive repair.
Taking accurate inventory of tenant personal belongings left behind, packing and placing them into storage accordingly (flagging items of high value, possibly stolen, with a risk to health and safety, etc.).
Monitoring inventory in storage and identifying effects ready for disposal.
Cleaning empty suites thoroughly and completing maintenance tasks as needed, making suites move-in ready within required turnover timeline.
Assisting with annual suite inspections.
Performing other janitorial duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, including spill clean-up, yard maintenance, cleaning and sanitizing common areas, etc.).
Job requirements
High school diploma.
Valid WHMIS and First Aid/CPR training, or willingness to obtain prior to commencing work.
Basic knowledge of and ability to use computers and learn new software.
Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of safe work practices.
Strong sense of integrity and accountability, attention to detail.
Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 30 pounds as necessary.
Comfortable working with/around persons who may solicit and/or display inappropriate
social or physical behaviour including inappropriate language or violence.
Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, boundaries, and confidentiality.
Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems is an asset.
BC class 5 DL with satisfactory driver’s abstract an asset but not required.
Primary hours of work: Mon- Fri, 8:30am - 4:30pm, with some on-call and after-hours work to be expected.
