LoveHR is pleased to be assisting the British Columbia Wine Authority (BCWA) with their hiring process to find their next General Manager.

BCWA is an independent regulatory authority with responsibility for administering BC’s Wines of Marked Quality regulations. The GM is responsible for leading the operations of the BCWA in accordance with bylaws and policies and reports to the Board of Directors. The strategic priorities of the BCWA include administering the system of wine standards including authorizing qualified wineries to use the term VQA as an indicator of premium quality grapes and terroir.

The Opportunity

The GM is responsible for the BCWA operations including finances, staff, and the activities involved in conducting taste assessments and inspections, supervising wine lab certification and evaluating products for compliance with wine and labelling standards. This critical role works closely with the Board in ensuring effective governance and will represent the organization to external stakeholders including government ministries, media, partners, and individual and groups of wineries and grape growers.

Requirements

What BCWA is looking for

We are seeking a leader with 20+ years of experience including within strategic leadership roles as well as a degree and CPA designation preferred. Superior communication, organizational, management, negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills along with the proven ability to set strategic directions and implement to achieve success and facilitate improvements are prerequisites for this job. This individual must be analytical, practical and demonstrate strong business acumen, good judgement and excellent interpersonal skills and be a strong representative of the BCWA.
