LoveHR is pleased to assist Whispering Pines Clinton/Indian Band (WPCIB) with hiring an Executive Secretary!


Located about 35 km north of Kamloops, the Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band (WPCIB), also known as the Pellt'iq't First Nation, is one of the 17 bands within the Secwepemc (Shuswap) Territory. Traditionally from the Clinton area, WPCIB membership includes ancestral lineage from both the Pellt'iq't te Pésllkwes (People of the White Earth/Kelly Lake) and Steke’7ús (People of the Little Hanging Bridge/Big Bar). As a Band, we are committed to serving our community and membership as well as building a future that upholds our Ancestral responsibilities.

The Role

The Executive Secretary has the important role of providing confidential secretarial and administrative support to the Administration and Chief and Council. Duties include including answering calls and greeting visitors, sorting and distributing mail, coordinating and attending meetings, preparing meeting minutes, tracking action items to ensure nothing slips through the cracks, managing schedules and calendars, making travel arrangements, drafting and organizing documents and correspondence, preparing expenses, and providing general administrative support to the Administration as needed.

The WPCIB offers competitive compensation, benefits and generous medical/sick leave.

This position full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30 and is on-site at the WPCIB office. Preference will be given to members of the Secwepemc Nation or individuals with indigenous heritage. The chosen candidate must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

The WPCIB is looking for someone who is as passionate about supporting the community as they are! Their ideal candidate has previous experience in administration/secretarial duties, 1+ years of minute taking, and can deal with confidential matters with discretion, tact and respect. This individual must have a strong ability to organize, prioritize, multitask and manage time, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and computer skills.


An Office Administration Certificate or Diploma would be valued and experience using office equipment and working with a variety of office software is required.
