This position is newly created in response to alignment with strategic priorities around growth, culture, and social enterprise and will drive excellence and lead internal innovation throughout the Foundation. We anticipate this job to be primarily onsite as the COO's presence will offer guidance and leadership throughout the organization and fits the dynamic nature of their culture and environment.
As a member of the Leadership Team, the COO is responsible for overseeing the operational (including governance and risk) and financial performance and management of the Foundation, and for ensuring that the operational infrastructure (e.g., business, facilities, equipment) optimally supports the work of the Foundation. Working closely with the CEO, leadership team and colleagues, and with an in depth understanding of the business of the Foundation, the COO will lead and coordinate operational and financial planning supporting the successful delivery of their strategic aims; monitor and report on achievement of strategic objectives and financial targets; keep key business processes and controls, as well as infrastructure, under review and implement improvements where necessary.
Directly accountable for the business enterprises, finance, IT, and administration teams and a complement to the CEO, this person will participate in long term planning, oversee the implementation and execution of plans, policies and processes, and be a strong day to day leadership presence for all staff while specifically managing reporting teams. Mentoring, coaching, recruiting, and providing feedback to direct reports on priorities, progress and opportunities to improve will be ongoing and vital to ensuring the organizational health and development of people.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader of purpose driven organizations and an agent for collaboration and communication with core competencies which include analysis and problem solving, decision making, strategic planning, adaptability, accountability, and organization. Proven abilities and experience in internal capacity development, and relationship building with diverse stakeholders are vital to this role as is demonstrated expertise in successfully navigating complex circumstances and delivering exceptional results. An advanced degree in a related field as well as at least 10 years of progressive, sector specific leadership experience is needed along with considerable knowledge of both BC and Interior Health specific networks and familiarity with post-secondary and health care institutions. Knowledge of fund accounting and a background in fund development, public policy, law, or business will be considered assets.
